Ms. Petula White

Ms. Petula White is a full time lecturer in the Marketing Division at the University of Technology, Jamaica. She lectures courses such as Service Marketing and Fundamental of Marketing under the School of Business Administration. Ms White is one of the chief coordinator of the Marketing Seminar 2010 and she keeps an observant eye on each committee’s progress. Ms. White considers the Marketing Seminar to be the capstone course that puts the finishing touch on the final year marketing students.  She believes that apart from being world-class, high quality and a well organized seminar, the students develop some much needed soft skills for their career in Marketing such as: team building, communication, interpersonal, time management, organization and leadership skills. Her most memorable moment of Marketing Seminar is to see the students come up with creative ideas, execute them well and surprise themselves about the outcome.   

Mr. Nigel McFarlane

Mr. Nigel McFarlane is currently a part time lecturer and is employed at the University of Technology, Jamaica since 1999. He lectures courses such as Retail Marketing and Marketing Communications at the School of Business Administration. When he is not lecturing he is busy managing his own business. Mr. McFarlane considers the Marketing seminar as an opportunity for final year marketing students to showcase the knowledge and skills they have acquired over the 4 years of study. He believes that the Marketing Seminar allows students to learn first-hand challenges involved in executing a major event and to better understand the value of effective planning. One special benefit that the Marketing Seminar offers is that it provides an opportunity for students to network with other Marketing professionals. The most memorable moments of seminar would be Media Launch of 2007/2008 operating under the theme “New World, New Tools: Revolutionizing Marketing Communications.”

Mrs. Joan Lawla

Mrs. Joan Lawla is a full time lecturer in the Marketing Division at the University of Technology, Jamaica. She lectures courses such as Selling, Marketing Operations and Marketing Research under the School of Business Administration. Mrs Lawla is the Head of the Faculty of Business Administration and was a former Programme Director of the Marketing Division. She takes pride to be able to advise students on every aspect of the seminar preparation. She considers the Marketing Seminar as “the finishing school of the Marketing Program” at the university. It is an experience that each marketing student would never forget and a stepping stone into their careers.
